(1) To enable the early versions of the inGridX software to read files produced by newer versions as they are developed because this option skips all the settings that are normally saved with a grid. Otherwise an error would be produced because of the extra file incompatibility problems.
(2) To preserve the current settings of a session that you have developed and want to see what they would look like when applied to another grid.
You cannot use the Save (Ctrl+S)
command and a grid loaded as Read Only will not enter the Recent
Files list and it will also not automatically save when you Exit
inGridX, however you can use the Save As command
as a way of transferring another grid's settings.
