View > Monochrome Ctrl+M

This is a checked menu item

This menu item toggles between two color tables. Each table is made up of the six colors which can be modified by the six color sliders in the toolbox. These two tables are used to enable printing on a black and white printer or for when you don't want to use much ink.

The first two colors represent the foreground and background colors. The foreground which can be slightly modified by the top left slider is for the general interpretation text and titles, boxes etc. The background which can be slightly modified by the top right slider is the overall background color.

The second or middle two sliders represent color assignments to the depth dimension of Constructs. The left slider slightly modifies the color of the nearest constructs and the right slider slightly modifies the color of the distant constructs.

The third or bottom two sliders represent color assignments to the depth dimension of Elements. The left slider slightly modifies the color of the nearest elements and the right slider slightly modifies the color of the distant elements.

To set the basic color for each item in their respective color table use the Home position of each color slider to bring up a color dialog box. A special case applies to the color dialog box for the GridBlack background color slider. In this case if the color chosen is white the monochrome color table is activated and if black is chosen the color table is chosen. This is an alternative to using this basic Ctrl+M menu item and preserves any background picture.

When the monochrome table is activated using the Ctrl+M menu item, any background picture is cleared (inGridX 0.8.2), and, when any layers that are then created for either elements or constructs using their respective red or green checkbox in the font control, the background for these layers is set to the monochrome background color.
